Energy is the lifeline of people in India. We are a developing country that needs low cost energy for every growing needs of energy. Anything you can create to make energy from current energy sources cheaper will be revolutionary. Same goes for extracting energy out of new sources. The newer sources of energy are solar, wind, ethanol biofuels, biofuels from other sources, like Jatropha, geothermal, hydrogen, thorium, methane etc.

AI is a going change the life in India in coming future. There are lot many areas where AI could be used for solving real like problems like medical research, education etc. I had already written about AI in my previous post.

Internet of Things is a development of the Internet in which everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data. India has a great future in IoT domain, there will be a huge need of IoT. See my previous post for reading about it in detail.

4. Robotics Startups

Robots are much more than toys, they make our life easier. We are already using robots in various sectors in India like medical, manufacturing, transportation etc. There are very few consumer robots yet, so there shall be huge demand for consumer robots in future.

5. Biotechnology Startups

The ultimate promise of biotech is to make us disease free, India has ample amount of opportunities in biotech sector. The Human Genome project is finished. Now it’s a matter of figuring out how to tweak the genes. There are moral considerations in this, too. A startup that addresses either side of this story would be revolutionary.
