Interview of Aagam Shah: Founder of Plushvie
He is the Founder of Plushvie, A Second Generation Jeweller, an Ex L&T-ite and an IC Engineer by qualification.
What inspired you to start this company?
Many colleagues at L&T shared that jewelry shopping is not their cup of tea. They just can’t buy jewelry themselves due to a lot of uncertainties involved in the process.
What are some of the new ideas you would implement in this company?
We implemented an AR-powered jewelry Tryon feature that allows users to virtually wear any jewelry and see how it looks on themselves, using just their smartphones.
What is the problem solved by your startup?
Jewelry shopping has been a nightmare for many first time shoppers, especially men. We are making jewelry gifting experience completely hassle-free for millennials. With the use of AI, AR and ML, our marketplace helps users in buying jewelry from any corner of India and get doorstep delivery of their precious gift.
What obstacles have you faced trying to reach your goals and what steps have you taken to overcome them?
One of the major obstacles was to build trust among users to help them buy jewelry online. We wrote a lot of content to create awareness on how safe it is to shop for jewelry online and the other benefits of buying jewelry online.
What according to you drive sales to a company?
Clients’ preference of your brand over other alternative ways of fulfilling their demands.

Any suggestions that you want to give to aspiring startups for raising funds?
Raising Funds is a full-time job. Do it diligently. The startup journey actually starts when you raise the funds.

Transparency, Authenticity, and Accountability are the most important elements of successful business relationships
Share your experience of fundraising and how difficult was it?
I met 70+ angels, angel fund managers, and HNIs prior to getting my first investment. The experience was very humbling and it taught a lot of lessons that will help me build a better venture than I had thought before this exercise.
How would you like to utilize the funds?
Funds shall be utilized in strengthening our technology, team building, and customer acquisition.
