Interview of Sumeet Kabra: Director of RR Global

He is the Director of RR Global. Associated with the conglomerate for the last 12 years, he heads the RR Kabel Consumer Durable business. He is also playing a mentor role in the e-bike Scotty launch.

What inspired you to join the above company or this sector?

We had the base of brand RR Kabel which had minority share. Later we saw an opportunity not only to grow in wire and cable but also into consumer sector fans, led appliances and become a strong electrical brand.

What is your life mantra?

One of the best feelings in the world is knowing that someone is happy because of you.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Life is interesting when we have challenges and it gets more meaningful when we overcome it. I had faced professional challenges in terms of setting up our first manufacturing plant in Bangladesh and knowing about the culture over there, in the meanwhile deciding to shut down MakeMyHome.

How do you protect yourself from the problem of brain drain?

The mind is a source of energy. One should always believe in their mind. Being a leader you have to be prepared with strategies looking at the absurd situations. You have to train yourself to see good in every situation.

Share one habit that you think makes you more productive?

On a lighter note, When in Mumbai Walking, Cycling.

Be a good listener.

Starting from right partners to an employee, hiring right talents, shifting of people and undertaking the market. There are many leading brands in the market but despite that, we are being a consumer durable brand we have started gaining the market share of it and a new brand to reach on the peak of the pyramid with constant innovation and inorganic acquisition.

Do you invest (or have interest) in Startups?

Yes as a group we have been investing in startups that show real innovation and most importantly we invest in startup or founders who know clearly how to execute the business and come up with new ideas.
