ISRO provides Rs 50L in R&D support to 6 startups

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Science and Technology, indicated in a written response to the Lok Sabha that six startups have received funding of Rs 50 lakh each for research and development activities under the ANIC-ARISE 1.0 initiative, which was launched in 2020. The ANIC-ARISE program was created to assist startups with their research and technology goals, with funding from various government agencies such as ISRO, the Defense Ministry, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as well as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

ISRO’s requirements for the program were startups focusing on geospatial information, propulsion technology, or AR/VR. While the final list of selected businesses has not been disclosed, the ANIC-ARISE website indicates that the 7 shortlisted startups for this initiative are SatSure, Satyukt Analytics, Number Analytics, Bellatrix Aerospace, Skyroot Aerospace, Digantara, and Vashishta Research.

Dr. Singh also announced the requirements for ANIC-ARISE 2.0 space companies, with a concentration on research in GIS solutions, propulsion, navigation, and AI/ML models for space applications. Dr. Singh further said in a supplementary note to the Lok Sabha, as reported by PTI, that while the figure is debatable, a 2019 estimation of the global space industry is put at $360 billion. India’s part is 2% of it, or around $7.2 billion.

He also stated that the government believes it has developed indigenous capability in all aspects of space development, such as expertise in space transportation systems and space assets such as a fleet of satellites capable of meeting the requirements of earth observation, communication satellites, meteorology, space science, and navigation.

Congratulations to the team of ISRO. May this bring you huge success and fulfillment.
