The round also saw participation from Antler, Febe Ventures, Foxmont, Global Founders Capital, Gokongwei Family, Hustle Fund, and angel investors from the technology, e-commerce, and logistics ecosystem. Locad is part of Sequoia Surge’s fifth cohort of 23 companies.

Founded in October 2020 by Shrey Jain, Constantin Robertz, and Jannis Dargel (worked in leadership roles at Grab and Zalora), Locad offers e-commerce brands and retailers end-to-end solutions, ranging from plug-and-play e-commerce fulfillment to a distributed warehousing network in the Asia-Pacific region for companies that are looking to scale their business internationally.

It serves more than 30 brands for e-commerce fulfillment like Borny, Recess, Terranova, etaily to name a few. The company has offices in Australia, Hong Kong, India, the Philippines, and Singapore.

“In an industry where reliability and speed could make or break an e-commerce brand, our ability to provide a one-stop platform, from fulfillment capability to distributed warehousing, allows brands to meet the evolving needs of their customers with flexible, nimble and pain-free logistics solutions,” said Constantin Robertz, CEO and Co-founder of Locad.

Locad provides a fully digital and integrated platform to brands with real-time visibility over sales, order, and inventory movements. It claims to plug an important gap in the current e-commerce and strengthen the distribution network and supply chain ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

Business customers of Locad also get the opportunity to integrate with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, and Zalora

“Bengaluru is our Engineering HQ, the heart of our platform is developed here, and we are set on hiring the best and brightest tech talent to drive our expansion goals across the region,” said Shrey Jain, CTO, and Co-founder of Locad.

While Locad has operations spread across Southeast Asia, where the logistics market is expected to be worth $55.7 billion by 2025, its technology hub lies here in India. The company competes with logistics providers such as Delhivery, Ecom Express, Shadowfax, Rivigo, GoBolt, and Kale Logistics in India.

The sudden shift in lifestyle came with the outbreak of COVID-19 lead to a dramatic change in e-commerce. People have developed new shopping habits, preferences, and expectations, all of which have been served by e-commerce. Locad serves its clients right from order fulfillment, to last-mile integrations, packaging, and returns with faster shipping & reduced logistics cost.

According to ResearchAndMarkets; the logistics market in Southeast Asia is forecasted to grow to $55.7 billion by 2025, witnessing the growing demand and necessity for flexible, technology-enabled solutions.
