Mamaearth Raised INR 130 Crore

Mamaearth, a maternity and child care startup, raised INR 130 Crore in a funding round led by Sequoia India. This startup creates toxin-free products for babies, hair care, and skincare. The startup said that it plans to use its funds to expand operations in major Southeast Asian markets where it plans to create products for millennial audiences. It also aspires to grow into INR 500 Crore brand by attracting five million new customers within the next three years.

The founder and CEO of Mamaearth said, “We have a long way to go at Honasa (Mamaearth’s parent company). Our vision is to create the FMCG conglomerate of the future by building brands that connect strongly with millennials and Gen Z customers using the combined power of digital marketing and e-commerce at large scale. Sequoia India’s investment at this stage of our journey validates this vision of building a global brand of the future.”

Mamaearth was founded in 2016 by a couple, Varun and Ghazal Alagh. It is Asia’s first made-safe certified brand selling toxin-free hair care, skincare and baby-care products. Currently, Mamaearth is available in over 500 cities across India and has a wide range of more than 80 natural products. They wish to attract new age millennial customers who value purity and will be willing to invest in their products.
