Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics listed strongly on the bourses on Monday, posting robust gains between 21.4% and 38% over their respective IPO issue prices, underpinned by heavyweight institutional backing and strong fundamentals in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors.

The Indian primary market witnessed an energetic trading session on Monday as two major players across distinct industrial verticals—automotive component manufacturing and point-of-care medical diagnostics—made stellar stock market debuts. Shares of Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics opened with impressive premiums ranging from 21.4 per cent to 38 per cent over their respective initial public offering (IPO) prices, reflecting healthy investor appetite and sustained confidence in fundamentally sound enterprise models.

Dhoot Transmission, a prominent name in electrical and electronics engineering specializing in wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems, registered a magnificent debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Backed strongly by prominent private equity firm Bain Capital through BC Asia Investments XV Ltd alongside Mangalam Capital Private Ltd, the Maharashtra-headquartered company saw its shares list at ₹1,200 on the NSE—marking a stellar 38 per cent premium over its final issue price of ₹871 per share. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the scrip debuted at ₹1,193.80, translating to a 37 per cent premium, before moving upward to trade around the ₹1,205 mark. Prior to the public issue, Dhoot Transmission successfully mobilized ₹918.3 crore from an elite roster of anchor investors, featuring global institutional heavyweights such as BlackRock, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and SBI Mutual Funds.

The total IPO structure comprised a fresh issue aggregating up to ₹1,400 crore alongside an offer-for-sale (OFS) component of up to 1.91 crore equity shares. Management has laid out a clear capital allocation blueprint for the fresh proceeds, earmarking substantial funds for the repayment or prepayment of existing company borrowings, financing debt obligations within subsidiaries, and establishing advanced manufacturing units for wiring harnesses in Jhajjar, Haryana, and Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, a portion of the capital will catalyze inorganic acquisitions and strategic growth initiatives, positioning the post-issue market capitalisation of the company firmly between ₹17,025 crore and ₹17,816 crore.

Simultaneously, Molbio Diagnostics carved out an equally compelling market entry. Backed by marquee institutional investors including Temasek and Motilal Oswal Private Equity, the point-of-care molecular diagnostics leader listed at ₹980 on both the NSE and BSE. This performance marked a robust 21.4 per cent premium over its issue price of ₹807 per share, with the stock subsequently climbing past ₹1,003.85 to trade with gains exceeding 24 per cent. The Goa-based diagnostic pioneer's public offering aggregated a fresh issue of up to ₹200 crore alongside an offer-for-sale of 91.66 lakh equity shares by existing stakeholders, following a successful anchor round that raised ₹281.5 crore.

Molbio Diagnostics plans to judiciously deploy ₹106 crore of its fresh capital expenditure towards building robust infrastructure for a dedicated Research and Development (R&D) facility, a Centre of Excellence, and connected corporate office space. Additionally, ₹72 crore will be channeled directly into procuring state-of-the-art plant, machinery, and laboratory equipment for operational units located across Goa and Visakhapatnam. With prominent financial institutions including Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, IIFL Capital Services, Jefferies India, and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors acting as book-running lead managers, the company commands a post-issue market valuation touching approximately ₹9,300 crore.

Market analysts have maintained an optimistic outlook on both counters, noting that while valuation multiples remain justifiable given their respective market dominance, investors are advised to exercise disciplined risk management strategies, such as maintaining prudent stop-losses, as these newly listed entities navigate broader macroeconomic market cycles.

"The stellar market debuts of Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics underscore the immense depth and maturity of India’s capital markets. It is exceptionally encouraging to witness institutional heavyweights and retail investors alike aggressively backing companies that combine strong manufacturing execution with cutting-edge healthcare innovation. Dhoot Transmission's massive premium highlights the strategic importance of supply chain localization and aggressive electric vehicle readiness, whereas Molbio Diagnostics proves that India is fast becoming a global hub for cost-effective, high-precision medical technology. These successful listings send a powerful signal to the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem: businesses that focus on robust unit economics, scalable infrastructure, and clear pathways to profitability will continue to unlock phenomenal value upon entering the public bourses." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
