Text Mercato raised Rs 4.85 crore in funding

Text Mercato, a start-up in digital cataloging that supports e-commerce sites, has raised Rs 4.85 crore from a clutch of investors.

While the funding is led by 1Crowd, Hong Kong-based startup accelerator Betatron and angel investors Andrew Dell, former head of HSBC Africa, and Raaj Shah, CFO of Sequent Tech, are others involved, the startup said in a note.

Established in 2015 by Kiran Ramakrishna and Subhajit Mukherjee, Text Mercato, based in Bengaluru, serves the content needs of digital companies.

1Crowd is an early-stage venture investment fund and a forum to provide an institutionalized approach to start-up investment that was developed in 2015. More than Rs 100 crore has been invested in 31 start-ups across sectors, ranging from enterprise technology and deep technology to B2C start-ups.

By focusing on end-to-end stacks, single sign-on, central management, and scale across languages, Text Mercato aims to smash the multi-department and multi-role problem of listing and selling a product into one single seamless operation.

Currently, Text Mercato serves over 100 customers, including many leading online retail and e-commerce players such as Myntra and The Luxury Closet in Dubai, among other customers spanning apparel, electronics, FMCG, hospitality, etc.
