The ‘Winter of Doing’ tech externship lets you solve real-world problems with India’s top startups

Crio.Do, a Bangalore-based experiential learning platform is trying to deal with this gap. to make credible work-like apprenticeships at an oversized scale, Crio.Do recently announced its industry-first, community externship program: ‘Winter of Doing 2020’ in partnership with leading startups, AWS, HackerRank, and YourStory. The program brings leading tech companies and startups within the Indian ecosystem together, intending to inculcate development skills within the participants.

Winter of Doing provides experiential learning opportunities, the same as internships, but shorter in duration, part-time, in partnership with leading startups. “If you refer to any successful engineer within the industry and ask where they learned the simplest, most frequently it’s through projects during work or internships. Learning by doing and solving real problems have proven to be very effective to be told technology skills and competencies,” said Rathinamurthy.

Founder and CEO of StartupLanes, Shishir Gupta says, since the COVID-19 outbreak, life has become tough, from big to small, every company and startup has faced a lot, and with this, the employees have too.

Coming up with a program like “Winter of Doing”, will bring great opportunities, for not only the ones who will be a part of it, but the whole country. It is a very big step in bringing employment and opportunities for the nation.

“Our goal is to produce meaningful and credible work-like learning experiences outside of labor because of all the participating startups for his or her generous contributions in creating this chance for young developers. we actually want to create this event as a launchpad for several aspiring product developers in India,” he added.

A tech externship for software developers The program provides externships for 100+ selected developers in partnership with companies like CRED, Groww, Jumbotail, Recko, Slice and Vicara, and more. Professional developers and students within the final year of engineering can apply.

“Through the program, we aim to empower Indian developers and democratize high-quality practical tech learning with help of Crio.Do’s a unique experiential learning platform and mentorship from the tech community,” he said.

Participants will get to figure on exciting projects like MasterCard management systems, GPS-based asset tracking portal, contextual chatbot for investors, and doc library with Digilocker integration among others.

Each week, participants will need to allot 10 hours of their time, and supported their performance within the application and mini programming challenges, they’re going to qualify for the following stage.

Post selection, applicants bear a three-month-long part-time remote project which they will take up while in college or working. “The Winter of Doing program is totally online and free, applicants only have to invest their time and energy. Developers who successfully complete the projects are recognized with verified work experience which they’ll leverage to enhance their career prospects,” said Rathinamurthy.
