This startup is delivering farm fresh produce to your homes

Farm fresh, organic, and healthy living are a few words that you must have come across at least once a day. If there’s one thing that the pandemic has confirmed for us, it’s that ‘Health is Wealth’. The pandemic has pushed more and more people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take a break from all the delicious junk.

To serve this rising demand of people, AryuMart was established by Khushboo Pal, Surendra Kumar Sahu, and Rajendra Kumar Sahu. Aryumart is a part of Aryu Group and has recently launched its mobile application on the play store. The founders identified the need for farm-fresh produce and connected with farmers to launch AryuMart, an online grocery platform.

In an exclusive interview with StartupLanes, Khushboo Pal, founder of AryuMart talks about her journey and experiences as an entrepreneur.

Keep reading to know what she has to say.

Q1. How did you come up with the idea of Aryumart?

Khushboo: During the pandemic, we realized that staying healthy was the biggest priority and everybody needed fresh and good quality fruits and vegetables. Markets were closed, and farmers who were dependent on selling vegetables were severely hit. People were quarantined and demanded groceries to be delivered to them. To solve these issues, the three of us came up with the idea of AryuMart.

Q2. What was the most difficult part in the early stages of the company’s growth?

Khushboo: The most difficult part was to secure funds for resources, marketing, and team building. By bootstrapping and help from family/friends we launched this startup with a positive approach to resolve the problem.

Q3. What was the gap in the market that you identified?

Khushboo: We discovered there was a major gap between the farmers and customers. Aryumart doesn’t have a warehouse like other platforms. It serves as a bridge between the farmers and customers, where farmers can use their delivery service and deliver fresh vegetables to the customers. We not only created a platform for them but are also supporting them to serve a larger area.

Q4. Can you explain your business model?

Khushboo: Our business model is based on transaction charges. We charge customers for every transaction and the platform charges the local vendors.

Q5. Did your family/friends help you with funding your startup or did you approach investors?

Khushboo: So far our family and friends supported us but we’re looking to raise external funding.

Q6. Which factors do you see impacting your business over the coming years?

Khushboo: I don’t see a lot of major factors impacting our business as we are working on the basic necessity of life whose requirement will always be there.

Q7. Are you planning to hire fresh talent into your team as the company grows? What qualities do you look for while hiring?

Khushboo: Yes, we are planning to hire fresh talent into our team. We’re looking for candidates who are energetic, have excellent sales skills, conveying power, have a positive approach, and creative thinking.

Q8. What according to you are the personality traits of a good leader?

Khushboo: I believe a good leader is optimistic, creative, a good initiator, and has problem-solving abilities. These qualities help a leader in guiding his team in any situation and can create histories.

Q9. What is the best and the worst part of being a CEO?

Khushboo: The best part of being a CEO is becoming mentally strong and staying motivated even when things are going wrong. And the worst part is there is no work-life balance and business becomes our priority.

Q10. Describe a time you had to make a tough decision. What did you do and what was the result?

Khushboo: A tough time was when our startup was about to shut down.

Q11. Are you looking for any vendors to help you simplify any part of your business?

Khushboo: We’re primarily only looking for investors to raise external funding.

Q12. What are the recent and long-term plans of AryuMart?

Khushboo: We are soon going to launch our IOS app and aim to expand all over the country in the long run.
