Travel platform Holibob raises £10m investment

Ryan Howsam, the founder and CEO of travel insurance business Staysure and a prior investor in the travel platform Holibob, led the $12 million (£10.1 million) Series A funding round.

A business-to-business marketplace called Holibob, which was originally established in Scotland but is now situated in London, employs artificial intelligence (AI) to locate activities for travellers. It collaborates with tour operators like Amadeus, Kayak, and SecretEscapes to design customised vacation experiences.

In 2019, Angus Hardy and Craig Everett founded the startup. It acquired TourismSolved in April.

“With the expertise, we have in place and the infusion of capital from this funding round, we’re well-positioned to realise our vision of helping the tours and attractions industry effortlessly connect the right products with the right travellers at the right time,” said Holibob CEO Craig Everett.

In addition to the fresh capital, the business now has access to a credit line. The funding will help Holibob advance its AI, marketing, content optimization, and user experiences.

In the last six months, Holibib reported a 600% increase in income. The company is believed to have benefited from the increase in foreign travel that has occurred since numerous Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.

Ryan Howsam, investor, Holibob said: “The team’s proven ability to partner with, and more importantly drive revenue for, leading travel brands made it an easy decision to double down on my support for them and their business model, including the extension of a credit line that will allow the team to focus on innovation and execution rather than further fundraising.”

Holibob is an interesting startup that incorporates the use of innovative travel technology. I’m certain this startup will continue to flourish in its future endeavours. Best of wishes to the entire Holibob team.
