The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced nationwide protests across all state headquarters following remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The protests are scheduled for Monday in response to comments made during an event in Patna.

NEW DELHI — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced plans to hold nationwide demonstrations on Monday in response to remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The controversy stems from an event held in Patna to mark the birth anniversary of Bihar's first chief minister, Shrikrishna Singh. During the event, while responding to an audience member's comment that the prime minister would not go anywhere, Kharge made a statement involving the phrase "Modi ka baap bhi jayega."

In an official statement released regarding the matter, the BJP described the remarks made by the Congress national president as insulting, indecent, and offensive.

"In protest against the insulting, indecent, and offensive remarks made by the Congress national president in Patna regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late father, the BJP will stage strong demonstrations tomorrow across all state headquarters in the country," the party stated.

The planned demonstrations on Monday mark an escalation in political friction between the ruling party and the opposition, as political parties frequently utilize nationwide public protests to address contentious statements and rally support ahead of upcoming political engagements.

"Public statements and political controversies of this nature often create immediate ripples across the socioeconomic and political landscape, introducing a layer of unpredictability into market sentiments and business environments. For enterprises and investors operating in India, heightened political friction can occasionally lead to policy debates or shifts in public focus. It remains essential for businesses to maintain a steady strategic vision and remain focused on core operational goals despite broader sociopolitical developments." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
