Israel has ordered its army to prepare for a full closure of the West Bank, scheduled to begin on Friday. The decision follows a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the day within the occupied territory.
According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, security forces were instructed to immediately cordon off the city of Hebron. Authorities were simultaneously directed to prepare for the full closure of all areas in the West Bank starting Friday.
The military directives followed an official statement from the Israeli army reporting that troops had killed two gunmen and thwarted what it described as a terror attack. The incident resulted in injuries to several individuals.
The operational measures represent an immediate security response to the violence in the region, affecting movement and access across the affected territories as security forces implement the ordered cordons and closures.
"Geopolitical tensions and sudden security lockdowns often introduce immediate volatility into regional markets, impacting supply chains, local commerce, and business continuity. For enterprises operating in or near conflict zones, maintaining operational resilience and adaptive contingency planning is essential to mitigate unforeseen disruptions during periods of heightened security enforcement." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
