Adperma Private Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd, is set to commence commercial production at its ₹6,000-crore manufacturing complex in Haldia by the end of December. The facility features an annual production capacity of 3.45 lakh tonnes of phenol and 2.15 lakh tonnes of acetone.

Adperma Private Ltd is scheduled to begin commercial production at its ₹6,000-crore phenol and acetone manufacturing complex in West Bengal’s Haldia by the end of December, according to a company official.

The company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. The manufacturing facility boasts an annual production capacity of 3.45 lakh tonnes of phenol and 2.15 lakh tonnes of acetone, as outlined in a company statement.

The facility was previously inaugurated on October 14 by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. According to the company, this complex stands as the country's only integrated phenol and acetone production facility located on the East Coast.

Phenol and acetone serve as critical raw materials for a wide range of industrial applications, including the manufacturing of laminates, plywood, adhesives, resins, paints, pharmaceuticals, and specialty chemicals.

Industry observers note that the new production plant is expected to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities by providing a steady local supply of these essential chemicals. Additionally, the facility aims to help domestic industries lower their overall reliance on imported materials.

"The commencement of commercial production at large-scale domestic manufacturing facilities like Adperma's Haldia plant marks a significant step toward strengthening India's industrial supply chain. By establishing local production capacities for critical raw materials such as phenol and acetone, domestic downstream industries can effectively reduce import dependencies and manage supply chain vulnerabilities. Large capital investments in core manufacturing sectors ultimately create a more robust foundation for industrial growth and regional economic development." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
