Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has posted a 16.5 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated profit to ₹3,622 crore for the second quarter of FY27. Backed by broad-based growth across domestic and international segments, the company has raised its full-year revenue and capital expenditure guidance.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has reported a 16.5 per cent year-on-year increase in its consolidated profit, reaching ₹3,622 crore for the second quarter of FY27. The financial growth was driven by broad-based performance across its domestic ports, international operations, logistics, and marine businesses.

Revenue from operations for the quarter rose 24 per cent year-on-year to ₹11,340 crore. Domestic ports continued to anchor the company's earnings, generating ₹7,177 crore, which is a 13 per cent increase compared to the previous year. The domestic segment reported an EBITDA margin of 72.5 per cent, with total cargo volumes standing at 118 million tonnes during the quarter.

During the period, APSEZ secured a 30-year concession for Paradip Port’s CQ-I and CQ-II dry bulk berths, adding 18 million tonnes of mechanised capacity. The company also commenced export-import operations at Vizhinjam port.

International ports experienced significant growth, with revenue increasing by 71 per cent to ₹1,839 crore and EBITDA rising more than threefold to ₹878 crore. The international port business achieved a record EBITDA margin of 47.7 per cent, aided by the ramp-up of the Colombo West International Terminal, Tanzania operations, and contributions from NQXT Australia. International port volumes grew to 24 million tonnes from 10 million tonnes a year earlier.

Ashwani Gupta, whole-time director and chief executive officer of APSEZ, noted that domestic ports remained the core anchor of earnings, while international ports, logistics, and marine segments are actively emerging as additional growth engines.

The logistics business recorded a 21 per cent increase in revenue to ₹1,273 crore, supported by the expansion of its integrated shore-to-door network. Trucking revenue grew 28 per cent year-on-year, and the international freight network revenue more than doubled to ₹289 crore. Meanwhile, the marine business posted a 57 per cent increase in revenue to ₹1,007 crore, driven by fleet expansion, higher contributions from offshore services, and entry into subsea services. APSEZ expanded its vessel fleet to 138, up from 127 in the same quarter last year.

Following the performance in the first half of the financial year, APSEZ has raised its FY27 revenue guidance by ₹1,000 crore to a range of ₹44,000-46,000 crore. It also increased its EBITDA guidance by ₹1,000 crore to ₹26,000-27,000 crore and raised capital expenditure guidance by ₹3,000 crore to ₹15,000-17,000 crore to accelerate investments toward its Ambition 2031 goals.

For the first half of FY27, the company generated operating cash flow of ₹13,327 crore, which funded investments of ₹10,521 crore. APSEZ ended the September quarter with a cash balance of ₹12,502 crore and a net debt-to-EBITDA ratio of 1.8 times. The company stated it has incurred a capital expenditure of ₹30,346 crore over the past two years while maintaining its leverage levels.

On exceptional items, APSEZ reported a charge of ₹30.76 crore during the quarter for a voluntary retirement plan opted for by employees of one of its foreign subsidiaries.

"The steady performance of Adani Ports highlights the importance of balancing core domestic assets with strategic international expansion. By scaling up logistics, marine services, and international terminals, the company has created multiple revenue streams that support its broader financial health. Upgrading guidance following strong half-yearly cash flows indicates sound capital management and operational visibility as they work toward long-term capacity goals." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
