Q2 FY27 Financial Earnings Updates
As Indian companies roll out their financial scorecards for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, the broader market experienced downward pressure. Benchmark indices opened lower during the session, with the Sensex trading down 633.22 points or 0.86% at 72,965.45, and the Nifty 50 declining 156.35 points or 0.69% to 22,593.40.
Amid these macroeconomic indicators, corporate performance presented a mixed picture across sectors. Hindustan Unilever (HUL) reported an 8% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to Rs 2,844 crore for Q2FY27. HUL CEO and Managing Director Priya Nair noted that the company delivered its highest underlying sales growth in the last 14 quarters at 15%, driven by resilient urban and rural demand and a 7% underlying volume growth. The board also approved an interim dividend of Rs 19 per equity share.
Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) posted a 33% year-on-year growth in net profit to Rs 5,202 crore, with shares seeing positive movement following the earnings announcement. Similarly, Bajaj Auto reported a consolidated net profit rise of 61.9% to Rs 3,436.10 crore, though management warned that ongoing drought conditions could impact entry-level motorcycle demand.
Automotive giant Maruti Suzuki faced headwinds, reporting a 26.36% decline in consolidated net profit year-on-year to Rs 2,466.1 crore, impacted by global tensions and foreign exchange pressures despite a revenue growth.

United Breweries saw its standalone net profit more than double to Rs 135.93 crore.
On the other hand, several firms faced margin compression and cost pressures. Waaree Energies reported a 15% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 719 crore. Jio Platforms Public Listing
In major capital market developments, Mukesh Ambani's digital and telecom unit Jio Platforms is set to list in Mumbai following its USD 3.2 billion initial public offering. The issue was priced at Rs 1,119 per share at the upper end of the price band, receiving a 22.19 times overall subscription with total demand exceeding Rs 7.4 lakh crore. The company is valued at approximately Rs 10.3 lakh crore at the issue price, with proceeds primarily allocated to repay up to Rs 27,500 crore of borrowings at Reliance Jio Infocomm.
"The Q2 FY27 earnings season highlights the resilience of domestic consumption in specific sectors like FMCG and infrastructure, while simultaneously exposing vulnerability to global headwinds and input costs in manufacturing and automotive segments. For investors and entrepreneurs, these divergent results emphasize the importance of cost discipline, volume-led growth, and strategic cash flow management in navigating a volatile macroeconomic environment." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
