Mumbai: Jio Platforms Limited made its stock market debut on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), trading with listing gains of over 21 percent. The technology and digital services company listed at ₹1,358 per share, representing a 21.36 percent premium over its final offer price of ₹1,119.

The public issue of ₹30,188 crore, amounting to approximately $3.2 billion, saw strong demand. The offering received an overall subscription of 22.19 times, with total demand across the public issue and anchor placement crossing ₹7.4 lakh crore. At the issue price, the company commands a market valuation of approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, stated at the listing ceremony that the response exceeded expectations, drawing over 1.3 crore applications and demand exceeding ₹7.5 lakh crore. He noted that the listing marks a starting point for the company to fulfill its commitments and build trust through action.

The company plans to utilize the proceeds generated from the fresh issue primarily to repay borrowings amounting to up to ₹27,500 crore at Reliance Jio Infocomm.

Market analysts and experts have advised investors to adopt a long-term holding strategy, pointing to the company's established footprint in digital connectivity, fixed broadband, enterprise services, cloud, IoT, cybersecurity, and emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence. While initial market response has been robust, analysts emphasize that sustained long-term performance will depend on consistent revenue growth, improved profitability, and the effective execution of future expansion plans.

Trading activity remained brisk during the morning session. By 10:11 AM, the stock touched a high of ₹1,375 before trading at ₹1,357 on the BSE. Market participants have noted that monitoring quarterly revenue metrics, EBITDA margins, average revenue per user (ARPU), and cash flows will be critical for evaluating the company's trajectory going forward.

"The successful public listing and massive subscription figures reflect strong investor confidence in India's expanding digital infrastructure and telecom sector. Raising over ₹7.4 lakh crore in total demand demonstrates the sheer scale and liquidity available for well-positioned technology platforms. However, as the company transitions into a publicly traded entity, the focus will quickly shift from listing-day premiums to disciplined capital allocation, debt reduction at the subsidiary level, and execution in high-growth areas like enterprise services and AI." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
