Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Tata Group is being criminally destroyed amid an ongoing leadership dispute within the conglomerate. Gandhi criticized the silence of business leaders and stated that justice would be ensured.

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged on Wednesday that the Tata Group is being criminally destroyed. Gandhi asserted that no business leader has dared to speak out against the situation, questioning how long silence would be maintained.

The remarks come amid a leadership dispute involving Tata Sons. The conflict has created divisions among trustees and reached the boardroom of the holding company, which oversees India's largest conglomerate.

Earlier this week, Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata challenged a resolution passed during the September 17 board meeting of Tata Sons. The disputed resolution concerned the reappointment of N Chandrasekaran as the chairman of Tata Sons.

In a post shared on social media platform X, Gandhi stated that Indian business is not a plaything for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Accusing business leaders of lacking courage, Gandhi added that his party would ensure justice for what he termed crimes.

As of Wednesday, neither the government nor the Tata Group had issued an immediate reaction or official response to Gandhi's allegations.

"Public commentary by political figures on internal corporate governance and leadership disputes brings significant attention to established business houses. For large conglomerates like Tata, maintaining stability at the leadership level is critical for operational continuity and investor confidence. Corporate disputes of this scale require careful handling through established governance frameworks to ensure long-term stability in the business ecosystem." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
