Axiro Semiconductor, a subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions, has made a strategic investment in Silicon Valley-based ThinSiC Inc. The move includes a long-term commercial partnership to develop and commercialise silicon carbide power device technology.

NEW DELHI — Axiro Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, has announced a strategic investment in ThinSiC Inc., a Silicon Valley-based semiconductor company.

Axiro has joined as the lead investor in ThinSiC's latest financing round. Alongside the investment, the two companies have entered into a long-term commercial partnership aimed at supporting the development and commercialisation of ThinSiC’s silicon carbide (SiC) power device technology.

The development aligns with Axiro’s broader strategy to build a high-performance semiconductor portfolio. While anchored in its core RF, mmWave, and advanced connectivity capabilities, the company is now expanding into power electronics. Silicon carbide is increasingly viewed as an alternative to traditional silicon for applications involving rail traction, industrial drives, and grid infrastructure.

Through the market presence of its parent company, CG Power, across India’s power transmission and industrial infrastructure sectors, Axiro is positioned to act as a commercial channel for ThinSiC’s technology both in India and internationally.

Dr. Naveen Yanduru, CEO of Axiro Semiconductor, stated that the investment reflects the firm's view that silicon carbide will play a central role in future power electronics, noting that cost has historically been a barrier to its adoption. He added that ThinSiC’s technology addresses cost and scalability challenges in high-voltage SiC.

TS Ravi, Founder and CEO of ThinSiC Inc., welcomed the partnership, stating that Axiro's semiconductor expertise, strategic vision, and connection to an established industrial group in India will help accelerate the commercialisation of their advanced SiC devices.

"This strategic investment by Axiro Semiconductor into ThinSiC highlights a calculated move to bridge the gap between advanced Silicon Valley technology and industrial markets in India. By targeting silicon carbide power devices, Axiro is addressing a critical cost and scalability bottleneck in power electronics. For the broader ecosystem, this partnership demonstrates how established industrial groups can leverage cross-border investments to drive technological commercialisation in high-voltage sectors like grid infrastructure and rail traction." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
