The Tamil Nadu Cabinet has approved a structured package of incentives for eight new industrial companies and expansions, totaling ₹3,767 crore in investments. The projects, spanning sectors like technical textiles, aerospace and defence, life sciences, and electronics, are expected to generate 4,853 jobs across five districts.

CHENNAI — The Tamil Nadu Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has approved a structured package of incentives for eight new industrial companies setting up or expanding operations across the state. The decisions were finalized during the third cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat in Chennai on Thursday.

The approved industrial projects involve a total investment of ₹3,767 crore and are expected to generate employment opportunities for 4,853 people. These projects are distributed across the districts of Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Erode.

According to official sources, the proposed initiatives span several emerging sectors, including technical textiles, aerospace and defence, life sciences, and electronics. In addition to the new ventures, the Cabinet also approved the expansion plans of three existing companies.

The state government has not yet disclosed the specific names of the companies involved in these projects, nor has it released a district-wise breakdown of the capital investments and employment generation figures.

Separately, the Cabinet cleared a proposal to constitute a multi-member commission headed by a retired High Court judge to conduct a Social Justice Survey. Briefing the media after the meeting, CTR Nirmal Kumar stated that the survey fulfills a key poll promise made by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ahead of the 2026 Assembly election, and was also mentioned in the Governor’s inaugural address to the State Assembly.

The oversight commission for the survey is scheduled to be constituted by February or March next year. The exercise itself is expected to be conducted following the completion of the ongoing Census.

"The approval of structured incentives for multi-sector industrial projects worth ₹3,767 crore highlights Tamil Nadu's ongoing focus on regional manufacturing growth. Spreading these investments across districts like Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Erode helps decentralize economic development rather than concentrating it in a single urban hub. Targeting emerging sectors such as aerospace, defence, electronics, and technical textiles aligns well with modern industrial demands. For businesses and entrepreneurs looking at the region, state-backed incentives remain a critical catalyst for scaling capital-intensive operations and generating localized employment." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
