NEW DELHI/THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted fresh searches at multiple locations in Kerala on Tuesday as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.
According to official sources, eight locations across the state are being covered during the operation, which is being executed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The federal agency's investigation focuses on allegations that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) made payments amounting to ₹2.78 crore to Exalogic Solutions. Exalogic Solutions is a now-defunct company that was operated by Veena, the daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, under the guise of providing IT consultancy services.
This latest enforcement action follows previous investigative steps taken by the agency. In June, the federal agency conducted a raid at the premises where Veena was residing with Pinarayi Vijayan in a rented accommodation in Thiruvananthapuram. Following that raid, she was also subjected to questioning by investigators.
The investigation remains ongoing as federal authorities continue to examine the financial transactions and service agreements between CMRL and the defunct IT consultancy firm.
