Jio Platforms Limited, India's largest digital connectivity and digital services platform, has opened its initial public offering (IPO) for public subscription today, with the issue scheduled to close on Friday. The public offering is entirely a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, with a price band set between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share. At the upper end of this price band, the total issue size aggregates up to ₹30,213 crore.
The minimum bid size for investors is 12 equity shares, with bids required in multiples thereof. The share allocation structure reserves up to 50 per cent of the equity shares for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), at least 15 per cent for Non-Institutional Investors—including one-third for applications ranging between ₹2 lakh and ₹10 lakh—and at least 35 per cent for retail investors. Additionally, specific quotas have been established for employees, offering 46,94,835 shares at a discount of ₹54 per share, alongside a quota of 2,23,41,376 shares designated for Reliance Industries shareholders.
Market data indicates that Jio Platforms held a customer base of 533.3 million as of June 2026, alongside over 99 per cent population coverage for wireless broadband and a 43.32 per cent share of India's broadband market. For the financial year 2026, the company reported total revenue of ₹1,46,885 crore, an EBITDA of ₹76,255 crore, and a profit after tax of ₹30,049 crore, with an EBITDA margin standing at 51.91 per cent. During the FY24 to FY26 period, the company delivered a Revenue, EBITDA, and PAT Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.8 per cent, 16.2 per cent, and 18.5 per cent respectively.
At the upper price of ₹1,119 per share, the company is valued at approximately 34.3x its FY2026 price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio and 14.8x its FY2026 EV/EBITDA, translating to a market capitalization of approximately ₹10,304,905 million. Brokerage assessments note that this valuation sits below Bharti Airtel’s trailing P/E of roughly 40x. Furthermore, the net leverage is reported at a low 0.36x, with the fresh issue proceeds primarily intended to support the repayment of borrowings at its material subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL).
While the company benefits from robust profitability, an integrated digital ecosystem spanning connectivity, cloud, enterprise services, and artificial intelligence, and a strong cash-generation profile, brokerages have highlighted several monitorables and risks. Key risk factors include regulatory dependence on telecom licences and spectrum, potential changes in net neutrality regulations, technological disruptions such as satellite-based broadband, and the company's concentration on RJIL for a significant share of its consolidated revenue and profits. Additionally, a return on capital employed (ROCE) of approximately 10.8 per cent and ARPU metrics remain points of ongoing observation for market participants.
"The launch of the Jio Platforms IPO is a significant milestone for the Indian capital markets and the broader technology ecosystem. With a massive customer base and robust financial performance, the company demonstrates the immense economic viability of digital infrastructure at scale. However, institutional and retail investors must carefully weigh the long-term growth opportunities in 5G, AI, and enterprise cloud against structural risks such as regulatory dependencies, heavy capital intensity, and evolving market competition. Prudent capital allocation and debt reduction via the fresh issue proceeds will be critical for sustaining its long-term financial flexibility." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
