MUMBAI — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Wednesday that his understanding was that envoy Steve Witkoff’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy a day earlier had been positive, noting that there were no unexpected developments or surprises.
Rubio made the remarks to reporters in Mumbai during his ongoing two-day visit to India. According to the US Secretary of State, the envoy is now equipped with ideas gathered from the discussion to share with the Russian side in St. Petersburg.
"He will now, armed with those ideas, be able to go to St. Petersburg and share them with the Russian side, and let's see if we can make some progress," Rubio told reporters during the briefing.
"Diplomatic engagements and high-level international meetings often set the broader macroeconomic and geopolitical environment in which global businesses operate. For enterprises navigating cross-border markets and international supply chains, stability and dialogue remain critical variables. Monitoring these geopolitical developments helps leadership teams anticipate regulatory shifts, market sentiment changes, and potential operational impacts across international regions." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
