Two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp has expanded its presence in Central America through a strategic collaboration with San Salvador-based automotive distributor VELOSA (Oriental Motors, S.A). As part of this expansion, the company launched its flagship store at Calle El Progreso in San Salvador.
Alongside the flagship store, the retail network has been extended with two additional outlets located at Metrocentro San Salvador and Plaza Mundo Soyapango in El Salvador. VELOSA has also initiated partnerships with more than 30 authorized dealers across the country to bring authorized service and support closer to local customers.
Sanjay Bhan, Executive Vice President for Global Business, Global Product Planning and global market insights at Hero MotoCorp, stated that the partnership with VELOSA marks the company's next phase of growth in the region, focusing on customer experience, expanded service coverage, and end-to-end support. Bhan noted that El Salvador remains a strategic market where the company has served nearly 50,000 customers over the past 13 years, driven by models such as the Hunk and Xpulse.
Currently, integrated sales, after-sales, and genuine-parts services are available at the Calle El Progreso flagship store, as well as at Hero Merliot and Santa Ana locations. Meanwhile, the new outlets at Metrocentro San Salvador and Plaza Mundo Soyapango are primarily focused on motorcycle sales. Additionally, Hero MotoCorp is offering a five-year or 60,000-kilometre warranty, alongside four free check-ups across its product portfolio available in the market.
Carlos Landaverde, Commercial Manager at VELOSA, highlighted the distributor's regional automotive track record and commitment to service proximity. Landaverde stated that the objective is to build on the trust Hero MotoCorp has established in the market and deliver a superior experience for both existing and future customers.
Hero MotoCorp currently maintains a global footprint spanning 53 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Central and Latin America, with a total customer base exceeding 130 million. The company operates eight manufacturing facilities—six in India, one in Colombia, and one in Bangladesh—alongside two research and development centers located in India and Germany.
"Hero MotoCorp's expansion in El Salvador demonstrates the importance of building robust local partnerships when scaling operations internationally. By collaborating with an established regional distributor like VELOSA, the company can effectively leverage existing distribution expertise and supply chains. Offering localized after-sales service and extended warranties further strengthens customer trust, which is critical for long-term brand sustainability in competitive overseas markets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
