Aditya Kumar Halwasiya, promoter of a healthcare and FMCG company, has further increased his investment in PC Jeweller by purchasing 5.51 crore equity shares on Wednesday at ₹18.39 per share, amounting to approximately ₹101 crore.
This marks his second significant investment in the jewellery firm within a short period. The latest acquisition follows an earlier purchase of 5.10 crore shares on October 15 at ₹14.43 per share, which involved an investment of about ₹74 crore. Through these two equity transactions, Halwasiya has acquired a combined total of 10.61 crore shares with a total investment of roughly ₹175 crore.
The follow-on investments come at a time when PC Jeweller has reported stronger financial metrics, including a debt-free balance sheet and improved profitability. For the September quarter, the company's net profit increased by 58 percent to ₹331 crore, compared to ₹210 crore in the previous period, while sales rose by 28 percent to ₹1,054 crore.
PC Jeweller recently cleared the entire outstanding debt owed to its 14 consortium banks, achieving zero bank borrowings. Additionally, the company realized about ₹142 crore from export debtors during Q2 FY27, marking the beginning of the recovery of its long-pending export receivables.
Buoyed by these developments, the company has outlined plans to establish up to 100 large-format showrooms across various cities over the next 12 to 18 months, utilizing a combination of company-owned and asset-light franchise outlets. Furthermore, PC Jeweller has established strategic arrangements with the National Skill Development Corporation and the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the CM YUVA scheme to develop a micro-franchise network aimed at rural and semi-urban markets.
Diversification efforts are also underway. The company is developing a new jewellery brand focused on demi-fine, lightweight, and lab-grown diamond products targeting younger consumers. Meanwhile, its step-down subsidiary, PCJ Mining SARL, has commenced on-site development activities for a gold mining project in the Republic of Chad, potentially securing a backward integration channel for gold sourcing.
"Promoter backing through open market share purchases often signals confidence in a company's financial turnaround. PC Jeweller's transition to a debt-free balance sheet, combined with improved quarterly profitability and cash recoveries from export debtors, provides a clearer foundation for its retail expansion and backward integration strategies. Monitoring how efficiently they execute their asset-light franchise model and showroom rollout over the next 12 to 18 months will be key to sustaining this momentum." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
