Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW) has secured a significant dredging contract from the New Mangalore Port Authority. Valued at ₹303.17 crore, the company has officially confirmed this as its largest-ever dredging order to date.
According to the company's statement, KMEW won the contract after emerging as the lowest bidder in the tender process. Its financial bid was approximately 10.16 percent lower than the competing bids submitted for the project.
The scope of the project covers maintenance dredging across multiple operational zones within the port infrastructure. This includes work on the outer approach channel, lagoon, dock areas, turning circle, designated berth faces, and pump-house areas.
To execute the project successfully, the company is required to deploy a suitable Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD). In addition, the operations will involve specialised equipment specifically designated for berth-face and pump-house dredging.
"Securing a contract of this scale demonstrates strong competitive positioning through strategic pricing and operational capability. By undercutting competitors by over 10 percent while meeting technical requirements, Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works highlights how mid-sized enterprises can successfully capture large-scale infrastructure mandates in the maritime sector." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
