Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd reported on Sunday that its total vehicle sales grew by 9 per cent year-on-year to a record 131,109 units in October. The overall figure includes export performance, which recorded a significant rise of 77 per cent to 7,102 units during the month.
In the domestic market, passenger vehicle sales saw a 2 per cent increase year-on-year, touching 73,338 units. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales grew by 4 per cent to reach 33,037 units.
Velusamy R, President of the M&M Automotive business, stated that the SUV sales of 73,338 units and the total vehicle sales of 131,109 units in October represent the highest ever recorded in any single month for the company. He attributed the strong demand across SUVs, pick-ups, and three-wheelers to the festive season combined with a refreshed product portfolio. He also noted that the company's first CNG vehicle, the XUV 3XO ZNG, has experienced strong customer traction.
Within the commercial vehicles segment, three-wheeler sales—which include electric variants—increased by 38 per cent to 17,632 units. Light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in the 2 to 3.5-ton category grew by 5 per cent to 28,654 units. However, sales for LCVs under 2 tons saw a decline of 4 per cent, dropping to 4,383 units.
"Mahindra & Mahindra's latest sales figures highlight the direct impact of seasonal demand and a refreshed product lineup on manufacturing growth. Achieving record-breaking monthly figures, particularly with strong traction in exports and new offerings like CNG variants, demonstrates healthy market adaptation. For growing businesses and mobility startups, this performance underscores the importance of portfolio diversification and capitalizing on festive consumer sentiment to drive volume." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
