Mumbai-based realty firm Suraj Estate Developers Ltd has reported a 30 percent decline in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September, touching ₹23.06 crore. In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company had registered a net profit of ₹33.09 crore, according to a regulatory filing.
Despite the dip in bottom-line profitability, the company witnessed an increase in its top-line performance. Total income for the second quarter of the current fiscal year rose to ₹171.08 crore, compared to ₹145.42 crore recorded in the same period last year.
However, the financial results indicate that the growth in revenue was accompanied by a sharper rise in operational costs. Total expenses for the period under review increased significantly to ₹140.12 crore, up from ₹101.33 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Suraj Estate Developers Ltd operates as one of the established realty firms in the country, with its primary operations based in Mumbai.
"The financial results of Suraj Estate Developers highlight a common operational challenge in the real estate sector, where top-line growth does not always translate to net profitability due to rising expenses. For real estate companies managing large-scale projects, controlling cost escalations is critical to protecting margins during periods of expansion. Investors and management must closely evaluate cost structures to ensure sustainable financial health in competitive markets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
