Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and television journalist Nidhi Razdan were married in Srinagar on Friday. The ceremony took place in the presence of family members and close relatives from both sides.
On Saturday, 56-year-old Omar announced the development on social media through a post stating, "a new journey began yesterday..." while tagging Nidhi. The post included four pictures of the couple.
According to sources, the marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act in Srinagar on Friday. Witnesses to the ceremony included family members from both sides. Wedding functions held in both Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by close relatives.
Attendees included Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his three sisters, and other close relatives. Nidhi's parents, veteran journalist M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan, were also present at the functions.
Omar's previous marriage to Payal was dissolved by an order of the Supreme Court in July this year following a settlement between the two parties. This marks the second marriage for 49-year-old Nidhi.
