NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) announced on Saturday that its sedan, the Dzire, has surpassed the milestone of 3.5 million units in cumulative production.
Manufactured at the company's Manesar facility, the vehicle achieved this production milestone in about 18 years and 9 months.
Speaking on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of MSIL, stated that the cumulative production of 3.5 million Dzire vehicles marks a significant point in the model's journey. He added that the company remains committed to delivering world-class quality and serving customers in India and global markets by increasing manufacturing scale.
The company noted that the Dzire joins other MSIL models—namely the Alto, Swift, and WagonR—that have previously crossed this cumulative production milestone. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki highlighted that the Dzire is the first sedan to earn a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
"Achieving a cumulative production milestone of 3.5 million units over nearly 19 years demonstrates sustained consumer demand and strong manufacturing consistency in the competitive automotive sector. For businesses and manufacturing enterprises alike, reaching this scale highlights the importance of reliable supply chains, consistent quality management, and adaptability to changing safety standards, such as achieving a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
