Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday to enquire about the ground situation in areas affected by recent cyclones and evaluate the overall impact.
During the telephonic conversation, Chief Minister Naidu briefed the Prime Minister on the effects of Cyclones Arnav and Murusu across the impacted regions. He highlighted the extensive losses suffered by farmers due to heavy rains and strong winds. Furthermore, Naidu detailed the damage sustained by public infrastructure, including roads, the power supply network, and other vital sectors.
To address the situation, the Chief Minister formally requested the Central government to extend appropriate financial and logistical assistance to the State to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts. Earlier in the day, Naidu conducted an aerial survey to directly assess the extent of the damage caused by the two cyclones and to monitor active relief operations.
According to an official government release, Prime Minister Modi appreciated the State government's handling of the crisis. The Prime Minister commended Naidu for effectively managing relief and response operations and overcoming the challenges posed by the natural disasters through continuous vigilance and preparedness.
"Natural disasters present immediate operational and financial hurdles for regional economies, significantly impacting key sectors like agriculture and infrastructure. Timely coordination between state administrations and the central government is crucial to mobilize recovery funds and restore supply chains. For businesses and local enterprises operating in vulnerable regions, proactive risk management, disaster preparedness, and robust business continuity planning are essential to mitigate long-term economic disruptions and safeguard livelihoods during adverse weather events." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
