The Reserve Bank of India held its 624th Central Board meeting in Chennai under the chairmanship of Governor Sanjay Malhotra. The board reviewed domestic and global economic challenges, operational areas, and risks to the economic outlook.

CHENNAI — The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted the 624th meeting of its Central Board of Directors in Chennai on Friday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.

According to an official statement issued by the central bank, the Board focused its discussions on the current economic situation. Members reviewed both global and domestic challenges, alongside potential risks to the broader economic outlook.

In addition to macroeconomic conditions, the Board examined various functional areas of the central bank's operations. This review covered the functioning of the RBI's internal committees as well as the Ombudsman Scheme.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governors Swaminathan J., Dr. Poonam Gupta, Shirish Chandra Murmu, and Rohit Jain. Other members of the Central Board of Directors present included Revathy Iyer, Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, industrialist Anand Mahindra, and former ISRO chairman Somanath Sreedhara Panicker.

Earlier in the day, prior to the board proceedings, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra visited the secretariat to call on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, accompanied by a small team of RBI officials.
