The upcoming Sustainable Aviation Fuel conclave in New Delhi will gather international airlines, energy companies, and financial institutions to discuss capacity-building and IATA's 2050 Net Zero target. The event aims to foster investment opportunities and technology partnerships as India explores its potential to become a global SAF hub.

The second Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) conclave is scheduled to commence in New Delhi on September 28. According to an official release, the two-day event will center on large-scale international SAF capacity-building, technical programmes, and the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) target of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

The conclave is expected to witness participation from leading Indian and international airlines, airports, energy companies, technology developers, investors, and financial institutions. Organisers state that the gathering will create opportunities for investment, technology partnerships, project matchmaking, and global market access.

Rohit Kumar, Secretary General of the SAF Association and CMAI, commented on the country's potential, stating that India has the opportunity to become a global SAF hub. He noted that achieving this requires an ecosystem rather than just a mandate, adding that the association's focus is to bring together government, industry, technology, finance, and global partners to turn ambitions into actual projects, investment, and production.

The programme includes ministerial sessions, technical conferences, capacity-building workshops, investor and buyer forums, leadership roundtables, B2B and B2G meetings, technology showcases, exhibitions, and memorandum of understanding (MoU) signings.

Global studies indicate that India could potentially produce around 40 million tonnes of SAF annually by 2050, representing approximately 10 per cent of global SAF production potential.

The two-day meet anticipates the attendance of over 1,000 delegates, more than 100 global speakers, and stakeholders representing over 25 countries.

"The focus on sustainable aviation fuel highlights a critical shift toward green infrastructure and long-term environmental targets in the aviation sector. For investors and businesses, large-scale decarbonisation initiatives require coordinated ecosystems encompassing technology, regulatory frameworks, and capital deployment. Events that bridge the gap between financial institutions, technology developers, and policymakers are essential for translating long-term environmental goals into viable commercial projects." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
