Tamil Nadu Minister Aadhav Arjuna Files Defamation Suit Seeking ₹1 Crore From DMK Chief M.K. Stalin

Tamil Nadu PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna has filed a defamation suit in the Madras High Court against DMK president M.K. Stalin and the DMK Information Technology wing. The petition seeks ₹1 crore in damages and compensation for statements made against the minister.

Justice K Govindarajan Thilakavadi has ordered a notice to M.K. Stalin and the DMK Information Technology wing. The court has posted the further hearing of the application arising out of the suit to September 15. The application also seeks to restrain Stalin and the DMK IT wing from publishing similar statements concerning the plaintiff.

According to the submission made by the TVK leader, the suit was initiated following a publication on June 8, 2026. The imputation was posted through the official social media account of the DMK Information Technology Wing on the platform 'X', using the handle @DMKITwing. The filing states that this publication caused injury to the reputation, dignity, credibility, and public standing of the plaintiff.

Arjuna argued in his submission that the publication was not an isolated act by a social media functionary. He stated that it was published under the plan, directions, instructions, and approval of Stalin, who exercises overarching authority over the party and its IT wing. Consequently, the petition holds Stalin responsible for the dissemination of the post, alongside the DMK IT wing as the direct operator of the 'X' account.

The plaintiff submitted that the statement was false, fabricated, and malicious. The filing noted that an individual referred to in Enforcement Directorate proceedings was not a close relative of the plaintiff, and the allegation was published without verification or supporting material. Furthermore, a formal complaint had already been lodged before the Commissioner of Police in Chennai to clarify the identity of the individual mentioned in the context of the ED proceedings.

The legal action aims to address the publication of the statement and seeks an injunction against further dissemination of similar content by the defendants.
