NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that India will continue to support every meaningful effort aimed at bringing peace to Ukraine and West Asia. The statement followed wide-ranging talks with visiting Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Tusk is on a three-day official visit to India, which coincides with a renewed global push to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Following their meeting, Prime Minister Modi addressed the media, noting that several key decisions were reached to expand the existing strategic partnership between India and Poland.
"We have reached understanding to deepen relations in defence, space and nuclear energy," Modi said during his media statement. He extended an invitation to Polish companies to engage in co-development and co-production initiatives with India across these strategic sectors.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral economic ties. Modi highlighted that growing economic strength has generated new opportunities for both nations, adding that a future free trade agreement between India and the European Union will further solidify this engagement.
Emphasizing shared governance principles, the prime minister noted that both India and Poland uphold democratic values and the rule of law. He reiterated that institutional reforms remain essential to ensure global governance bodies are more empowered and effective.
Concluding his remarks on international affairs, Modi reaffirmed India's diplomatic stance on active global conflicts. "Be it Ukraine or West Asia, India will continue to support every meaningful effort towards peace," he stated.
"The diplomatic engagement between India and Poland opens up important avenues for cross-border collaboration in high-value sectors such as defence, space, and nuclear energy. For businesses operating within these strategic industries, the push for co-development and co-production models signals potential opportunities for technological partnerships and market expansion. As bilateral economic frameworks and broader European Union trade discussions progress, companies should monitor how policy alignments translate into actionable joint ventures and industrial cooperation." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
