The Tiruppur Exporters' Association (TEA) has unveiled a digitally revamped website designed to bridge the gap between global buyers and over 1,400 local manufacturers, eliminating intermediaries. The platform also integrates digital Certificate of Origin (COO) applications and a real-time capacity-sharing marketplace for vendors like dyers and printers.

TIRUPPUR, TAMIL NADU — In a monumental stride toward digital transformation, the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has officially rolled out a revamped, feature-rich digital platform. Designed to revolutionize India's premier textile cluster, the initiative directly targets the elimination of middlemen, streamlining operations for a manufacturing hub that exports goods worth an astounding ₹45,000 crore annually. This strategic move aims to fortify Tiruppur’s global positioning by fostering transparent, direct-to-manufacturer supply chains.

For decades, international and domestic apparel brands sourcing from Tiruppur have heavily relied on a network of agents and intermediaries to bridge the gap between buyers and factories. While this model has sustained trade, it often introduces friction, delays, and added costs. The newly launched TEA portal changes the game by introducing a secure buyer login facility. Through this dedicated portal, over 1,400 registered exporters can now interface directly with global buyers. According to Ramu Shanmugam, CEO of Clothing Connections and Chairman of the IT Wing Subcommittee at TEA, this direct-connect mechanism drastically shortens the supplier-discovery and order-placement lifecycle, ensuring superior margins and accelerated turnaround times for both parties.

Beyond buyer-seller matchmaking, the digital upgrade introduces critical workflow automations. TEA members can now apply for and process Certificates of Origin (COO) entirely online, slashing administrative paperwork and eliminating physical bureaucratic bottlenecks. Furthermore, the ecosystem is expanding to include ancillary vendors such as dyeing units, printing houses, and processing mills. These supporting vendors can now publish their available spare capacity in real time on the platform. Exporters facing tight deadlines or sudden surges in demand can seamlessly route excess orders to verified units with idle bandwidth, optimizing local resource utilization.

Industry leaders have lauded the platform as a foundational step toward preparing the cluster for international trade tailwinds. Kumar Duraisamy, Managing Director of Eastern Global Clothing, emphasized that with the Indian government aggressively pursuing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) globally, regional manufacturing hubs must upgrade their digital infrastructure. The revamped TEA website acts as a robust catalyst, positioning Tiruppur not merely as a manufacturing cluster, but as a hyper-connected, tech-enabled digital marketplace.

As the TEA continues to onboard various players across the textile value chain, the platform is slated to evolve into a fully transparent, real-time marketplace. By leveraging technology to enhance transparency, cut transactional overheads, and streamline ancillary vendor capacities, Tiruppur is setting a benchmark for traditional manufacturing clusters across India looking to scale globally in the digital age.

"The digital overhaul by the Tiruppur Exporters' Association marks a monumental turning point for India's traditional manufacturing and export ecosystem. By cutting out intermediaries and introducing a real-time collaborative marketplace for both exporters and ancillary vendors like dyeing and processing units, TEA is injecting unprecedented efficiency and transparency into a ₹45,000 crore textile powerhouse. At StartupLanes, we firmly believe that technology-driven supply chain optimization is no longer optional; it is the ultimate prerequisite for scaling globally. As India expands its footprint through aggressive Free Trade Agreements, such indigenous digital infrastructure will empower our MSMEs and manufacturers to directly capture international demand, reduce operational friction, and command higher value on the world stage." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
