Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. has won a ₹4,700 crore transmission project through competitive bidding to evacuate renewable energy from Karnataka to Maharashtra. The project will be housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle Satara Power Transmission and completed within 36 months.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL), a transmission and distribution company, has secured a major transmission project to evacuate renewable energy generated in Karnataka and deliver it to major load centres in Maharashtra.

The project involves an estimated capital expenditure of ₹4,700 crore and was won through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process, where AESL emerged as the lowest bidder. The infrastructure will also support the growing pumped storage ecosystem across the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The initiative is housed under a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named Satara Power Transmission and is scheduled to be delivered to the nation in 36 months.

Scope of work for the project includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and the augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station alongside associated transmission infrastructure.

Commenting on the development, Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions, stated that pumped storage projects are emerging as a critical enabler of India’s clean energy transition by providing the flexibility and reliability required to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the grid. He added that the Satara transmission project will create a vital transmission backbone to support both renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment.

Upon completion, the project will add 562 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s existing portfolio. This addition will bring the company's cumulative transmission network to 29,739 ckm and its transformation capacity to 1,43,425 MVA.

"Large-scale infrastructure projects like this ₹4,700 crore green energy evacuation corridor highlight the critical capital deployment needed in the power and transmission sector. As India accelerates its clean energy transition, building robust transmission backbones is essential to efficiently transport renewable power from generation hubs to high-demand industrial centers, creating sustainable long-term value for the power ecosystem." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
