Aerospace startup Airbound has raised $37 million in a Series A funding round led by Greenoaks. The capital will be used to accelerate engineering, commercial-scale manufacturing, and go-to-market initiatives as the company expands its drone delivery operations.

Aerospace startup Airbound has raised $37 million in a Series A funding round led by Greenoaks. The round also saw participation from new and existing investors, including DoorDash, Lachy Groom, Lightspeed, and Humba Ventures. With this latest injection of capital, the company has raised nearly $50 million since its launch in 2023.

According to the company, the newly secured funds will be allocated toward accelerating engineering efforts, scaling commercial-scale manufacturing, and driving go-to-market initiatives.

Naman Pushp, Founder and CEO of Airbound, commented on the company's long-term vision: “We believe in a world where all movement happens in the air. Not some of it. Not most of it. All of it. A world where flying is cheaper than taking the bus, where moving a single package costs less than moving 20 tonnes by truck, and where we look at cars the way we look at horses today. Better physics leads to better economics, which unlocks the potential to move people and goods for a fraction of a cent. That is what we’re building at Airbound.”

Airbound has already deployed its technology in operational settings. The startup has completed more than 1,000 autonomous flights with zero mission failures in partnership with Narayana Health. This collaboration focuses on transporting diagnostic samples between healthcare facilities, successfully reducing delivery times from hours to minutes.

Highlighting the operational environment, Pushp noted, “The bar for delivery in India is high. The benchmark is 10 minutes to your doorstep, at an extremely low cost. That’s the complexity here. If you can build something that works in India, it tends to work anywhere.”

In addition to its healthcare applications, Airbound has signed a commercial deployment agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government. The project aims to build a drone delivery network connecting three cities to enable faster and lower-cost transport. The company plans to scale this network to 10,000 daily flights, supporting retail, e-commerce, and healthcare deliveries across the region. This initiative is designed to serve as a playbook for scaling aerial deliveries nationwide.

"Airbound's successful Series A raise highlights growing investor confidence in deeptech and hardware-driven logistics solutions. By tackling complex use cases like healthcare sample transport and securing government partnerships for multi-city deployment, the company is moving past theoretical concepts and demonstrating real-world utility. Building a high-frequency, low-cost delivery network in a demanding market like India will provide Airbound with a strong operational foundation as it scales its commercial manufacturing and expands its network footprint." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
