Amrutanjan Health Care has announced plans to set up 1 lakh direct chemist outlets in the current fiscal year to boost growth, according to the company's latest annual report. The distribution expansion aims to increase touchpoints beyond the company's traditional strongholds in the south and east.
S Sambhu Prasad, Chairman and Managing Director of Amrutanjan Health Care, stated in the report that the goal of achieving 1,00,000 direct chemist outlets will be realized in FY27 to widen the overall reach and availability of the company's brands.
During FY26, the company added 44,000 new chemist outlets. It continues to widen distribution in new markets while deepening penetration in existing strongholds through rural distribution and low-price packs, alongside investments in low-contribution markets.
The company's growth in FY26 was primarily driven by the pain management and women's hygiene categories, led by the Amrutanjan and Comfy brands. The overall pain-management category recorded 10 per cent gross sales growth during the year, with headache and body-ache categories growing by 8 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively. In the hygiene sector, the period-care brand Comfy, launched in 2013, currently holds the 4th position nationally in the mass pad segment.
As part of its product strategy, Amrutanjan plans to relaunch its congestion-relief brand, Relief, during the current financial year. The company also remains confident about the overall demand environment in FY27, supported by differentiated value propositions across its portfolio.
Financially, the company reported an 11.23 per cent increase in revenue from operations at ₹502.55 crore for FY26, while its net profit grew nearly 14 per cent to ₹57.92 crore. Amrutanjan currently employs over 650 people.
In addition to physical retail expansion, Amrutanjan is focusing on digitization and automation. The company reported that 70 per cent of its critical processes are automated, with plans to increase this figure close to 100 per cent. It has also expanded its digital commerce capabilities through the successful launch of the Amrutanjan brand on Amazon India and Amazon USA.
"Expanding direct distribution touchpoints is a fundamental strategy for established consumer brands looking to scale beyond regional strongholds. By targeting 1 lakh direct chemist outlets, Amrutanjan is systematically reducing intermediary friction and securing direct market access. Coupled with steady growth in core segments like pain management and women's hygiene, alongside targeted digital automation, this operational focus provides a strong foundation for sustained revenue growth and improved market penetration." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
