Binance Charity has announced a donation of INR 3.3 Crore to Goonj's Rahat Initiative to support flood-hit families in Assam. The funds will provide emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits, and shelter across multiple affected districts.

GUWAHATI, India — Binance Charity, the philanthropic arm of blockchain ecosystem Binance, has announced a donation of INR 3.3 Crore (USD 350,000) to Goonj's Rahat Initiative. The funding is aimed at delivering urgent humanitarian relief in Assam as the state faces severe flooding.

According to recent reports, the floods have affected more than 12 lakh people across 25 districts and 2,734 villages, with the death toll rising to 105. Earlier in August, 349 villages across districts including Golaghat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Bajali, Dhemaji, Sonitpur, and Jorhat were reported affected.

The financial contribution will be utilized to fund urgent relief and recovery needs. This includes essential materials such as household items, hygiene kits, and tarpaulins, distributed according to the priorities of the affected communities. The initiative is expected to reach 27,500 families, helping them address immediate needs and commence the recovery process.

SB Seker, Head of APAC at Binance, stated that the organization's thoughts are with those affected by the floods. He noted that collaborating with Goonj's Rahat Initiative is intended to provide urgent relief on the ground and support families in rebuilding.

Anshu Gupta, Founder of Goonj, highlighted the severity of the monsoon impact, noting that many have lost stored grain and livelihoods while living in makeshift arrangements. He emphasized that the support allows the organization to deliver relief materials to hard-to-reach districts and maintain a presence through the recovery phase for long-term intervention.
