NEW DELHI — IPO-bound brewer Carlsberg India has reported a 2.2 percent decline in its revenue from operations, standing at ₹8,708.8 crore for the financial year ended March 2026 (FY26), according to financial data accessed through business intelligence platform Tofler.
Despite the slight dip in top-line revenue, the company's profit rose 22 percent to ₹534.51 crore during the same period. In the preceding financial year (FY25), Carlsberg India had recorded a revenue from operations of ₹8,906.50 crore and a profit of ₹437.94 crore.
The company's total income, which includes other income, declined 2.25 percent to ₹8,814.96 crore in FY26. Total expenses for the brewer also saw a reduction, dropping 4 percent to ₹8,090.81 crore from ₹8,426.23 crore in FY25.
A breakdown of the financials indicates varying trends across operational costs. Expenses on excise duty paid to governments declined by approximately 12 percent to ₹4,816.83 crore in FY26, compared with ₹5,468.24 crore in FY25. Meanwhile, royalty paid to the parent entity increased by 13.23 percent to reach ₹90.01 crore.
On the marketing and sales front, Carlsberg India's marketing and publicity expenses decreased by 2.24 percent to ₹69.22 crore. However, expenditures directed toward sales promotion recorded a sharp increase of 42.62 percent, moving up to ₹848.71 crore from ₹595.07 crore in the previous financial year.
Carlsberg India operates in the domestic market with several popular beer brands, including Tuborg, Carlsberg Elephant, and Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc. The company is a subsidiary of Carlsberg South Asia Pte Ltd, with South Asian Breweries Pte Ltd based in Singapore holding a 100 percent stake in Carlsberg India Ltd.
The financial disclosures come as the brewer prepares for a public listing. In July 2026, the company filed confidential papers with the capital markets regulator SEBI for a proposed initial public offering (IPO) and subsequently received approval on October 1, 2026. Market reports indicate that the upcoming public offering could raise up to $700 million.
"Carlsberg India's FY26 financial results highlight a classic shift towards margin optimization ahead of a public market debut. While top-line revenue contracted marginally, a 22 percent increase in net profit, driven by lower overall expenses and reduced excise outlays, demonstrates stronger operational efficiency. Managing promotional spend alongside upcoming capital market plans will be critical as the company moves toward its proposed IPO." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
