Automotive component maker Lumax Auto Technologies has reported a strong financial performance for the quarter ending September 2026, driven by higher revenues across both standalone and consolidated operations. According to regulatory filings, the company's consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders rose 57.8 per cent to ₹105.51 crore in July–September 2026, compared to ₹66.85 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Revenue from operations for the quarter grew 34.5 per cent to ₹1,555.51 crore, up from ₹1,156.36 crore previously. This growth was achieved even as material costs increased at a faster pace than sales, moving up 43.2 per cent from ₹656.56 crore to ₹940.40 crore. Employee expenses during the quarter rose 27 per cent to ₹191.39 crore, while finance costs edged down slightly to ₹24.24 crore.
On a standalone basis, Lumax recorded a net profit of ₹89 crore, marking a 45.7 per cent increase from ₹61.08 crore. Standalone revenue grew 38 per cent to ₹1,204.70 crore. The company's consolidated profit before tax increased 47.8 per cent to ₹154.24 crore, which lifted the pre-tax margin from 9.02 per cent to 9.92 per cent.
For the half-year period covering April to September 2026, the company's consolidated profit attributable to shareholders increased 77.5 per cent to ₹192.15 crore from ₹108.27 crore. Revenue for the same six-month period grew 33.7 per cent to ₹2,919.12 crore, while profit before tax rose 60.3 per cent to ₹286.29 crore.
Capitalizing on its stronger earnings, Lumax is investing ₹150 crore in a new mechatronics plant at Manesar, Haryana. The facility will manufacture electronic components, including body control modules that manage vehicle electrical functions, tailored for leading automakers. Funded through a combination of debt and internal accruals, the plant is slated to be commissioned in two phases beginning in the third quarter of FY28.
According to the company's regulatory filing, the Manesar facility is expected to generate an annual turnover of ₹500 crore at peak capacity. At this projected level, the peak turnover would be equivalent to 10.3 per cent of Lumax’s FY26 consolidated revenue of ₹4,870.33 crore. Lumax has not yet disclosed a timeline for when the facility will reach peak turnover or outlined its expected returns, noting that future profitability will depend on customer orders, capacity utilization, and financing costs.
"Lumax's strategic shift toward automotive electronics reflects a clear understanding of where the industry is heading as modern vehicles integrate more electronic systems. Committing ₹150 crore to a dedicated mechatronics facility backed by strong quarterly earnings demonstrates balanced capital allocation. However, successfully translating this investment into the projected ₹500 crore annual turnover will rely heavily on execution timelines, disciplined debt management, and securing consistent demand from major automakers." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
