Adani Wind has bagged orders totalling 696.2 MW from five independent power producers, pushing its cumulative third-party order book past 1 gigawatt. The contracts cover three turbine platforms with projects distributed across Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Adani Wind, the wind energy business operating under Adani New Industries Ltd, has secured orders totaling 696.2 megawatts (MW) from five distinct power producers. This development broadens the company's customer portfolio outside the Adani Group as the domestic wind sector transitions toward higher-capacity turbines.

The newly secured orders are distributed among several independent energy firms. Purvah Green Power, an affiliate of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, accounts for 300 MW. Jindal India Power, part of the BC Jindal Group, has ordered 155 MW. NTPC Renewable Energy has committed to 109.2 MW, Aditya Birla Renewables to 82.5 MW, and Integrum Energy to 49.5 MW.

These contracts span three wind turbine generator platforms rated at 5.2 MW, 5 MW, and 3.3 MW. The corresponding projects are located across the states of Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

With this latest influx of contracts, Adani Wind's cumulative order book from independent power producers outside its parent group has surpassed 1 gigawatt (GW). This milestone reflects the company's strategy to expand its third-party business footprint in a competitive market where manufacturers vie to supply equipment for India's growing renewable energy infrastructure.

Specific deployment details vary by client and platform. The largest order from Purvah Green Power involves sixty 5 MW wind turbines destined for Bellary, Karnataka. Jindal India Power's 155 MW order comprises thirty-one units of the 5 MW rating for installation in Davanagere, Karnataka. NTPC Renewable Energy has commissioned twenty-one turbines rated at 5.2 MW each for its Khavda project in Gujarat. Meanwhile, the Aditya Birla Renewables and Integrum Energy projects will utilize the 3.3 MW turbine platform in Bhuj, Gujarat, and Nandurbar, Maharashtra, respectively.

In tandem with these orders, Adani Wind is scaling up its manufacturing capacity at Mundra, Gujarat. The facility aims to grow from an annual capacity of 2.25 GW to 5 GW, with a long-term goal of reaching 10 GW. This expansion is designed to capture a larger portion of domestic turbine demand while opening avenues for international exports.

The company utilizes platforms such as the 5 MW MWL-185, which features an 185-metre rotor diameter and a 140-metre hub height tailored for low- to moderate-wind conditions, and the 5.2 MW MWL-160 model, listed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). The MWL-160 platform has already surpassed 2 GW of installations at the Khavda renewable energy site in Gujarat. Furthermore, Adani Wind is currently the sole Indian wind turbine manufacturer listed within BloombergNEF's global top 15 ranking for 2025.

India remains the world's fourth-largest wind power market, housing 59.2 GW of installed wind capacity alongside 43 GW currently under implementation. Domestic manufacturing capacity has expanded from roughly 12 GW in fiscal 2023 to more than 24 GW annually. Analysts note that while these contracts provide an opportunity to demonstrate commercial viability and broaden customer reach, overall revenue realization will ultimately hinge on delivery timelines, project execution, and timely commissioning.

"Adani Wind crossing the 1 gigawatt milestone in third-party orders highlights a positive shift in India's renewable energy sector. Diversifying a customer base beyond internal group entities is essential for long-term manufacturing viability, especially as domestic demand rises and the industry moves toward higher-capacity turbines. Scaling up production at Mundra positions the company well to capture broader market share, provided execution and delivery schedules remain aligned with industry targets." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
