Nasdaq-listed US drugmaker Amneal Pharmaceuticals has inaugurated a ₹135-crore administrative office in Ahmedabad. The new facility expands the company's corporate infrastructure in India while strengthening its global research, development, and manufacturing capabilities.
Spanning approximately 3.35 lakh square feet, the newly opened office can accommodate around 1,200 employees. According to an official release, the investment brings key teams together to support the company’s corporate functions alongside its research and development and manufacturing activities.
Chirag Patel, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Amneal, stated that the new office reflects the company's continued investment in the people and capabilities supporting its global business. He noted that India serves as an important part of the network, complementing the company's growing US manufacturing footprint. The office is intended to improve collaboration across global operations spanning the US, India, and Ireland.
The inauguration builds on broader investment plans previously announced by Amneal for India. In October 2024, the company outlined a net investment of $150 million to $200 million over four to five years to set up two greenfield manufacturing facilities in Ahmedabad. These facilities focus on peptide synthesis and advanced sterile fill-finish manufacturing.
These projects are designed to expand the company's capacity to develop and manufacture complex medicines for both domestic and international markets. Amneal reports an investment of approximately $600 million in India over the past decade. The company established operations in the country in 2008 and currently operates eight manufacturing sites, including five in Ahmedabad, alongside facilities in Dahej, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam. It also maintains a commercial office in Mumbai.
Co-founder and co-chief executive officer Chintu Patel highlighted the contribution of local teams, stating that colleagues in India play an important role in advancing the company's research, development, manufacturing, and business operations.
Amneal operates across complex generics, injectables, specialty medicines, and biosimilars. In August 2026, the company further expanded its biosimilar development and manufacturing capabilities through the acquisition of Kashiv BioSciences.
"Amneal Pharmaceuticals' ongoing investments in India highlight the country's growing importance as a global hub for pharmaceutical research, development, and advanced manufacturing. By consolidating key operations into large-scale infrastructure like the new Ahmedabad facility, established global companies are able to drive better cross-border collaboration and operational efficiency. This steady expansion of physical and manufacturing footprints reinforces long-term industry growth and strengthens India's position within the global healthcare supply chain." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
