Hyperscale data centre operator CtrlS has raised ₹250 crore from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga. The capital will be utilized to support infrastructure expansion and capacity build-out amid rising demand driven by AI and cloud workloads.

Hyperscale data centre operator CtrlS Datacenters has secured ₹250 crore in funding from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga. According to the company, Nikhil Kamath contributed ₹200 crore to the round, while Sreeram Reddy Vanga invested ₹50 crore.

The newly raised capital is earmarked to support the company's ongoing infrastructure expansion and capacity build-out. This comes as enterprises and hyperscalers register a growing demand across India, particularly driven by accelerating workloads in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital infrastructure.

Founded in 2007 by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS currently operates 19 data centres across nine key markets in India. The company reports an operational capacity of over 370 MW, alongside 4.4 GW of projects currently at various stages of execution. The firm is actively developing next-generation AI-ready and hyperscale infrastructure while continuing to emphasize renewable energy and sustainable data centre practices.

Commenting on the investment, Nikhil Kamath stated that data centres form the foundational layer for technology shifts like AI, cloud, and digital public infrastructure over the coming decade. He noted that India is at an inflection point where underlying infrastructure must keep pace to avoid bottlenecks, adding that CtrlS's established depth made the investment decision straightforward.

Sreeram Reddy Vanga highlighted the scale of India's ambitions in AI and cloud, which necessitate world-class digital infrastructure. He noted his long-standing familiarity with Sridhar Pinnapureddy and expressed enthusiasm for participating in the company's next phase of growth.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, welcomed the new investors, stating that the partnership aligns with the company's long-term vision for India's digital economy. He added that the capital will enable the firm to scale operations more rapidly and build out platforms to support the country's next phase of economic growth.

"The investment of ₹250 crore into CtrlS Datacenters highlights the growing investor confidence in India's foundational digital infrastructure. As AI and cloud adoption accelerate, the demand for scalable and sustainable data centre capacity is at an all-time high. This capital injection will allow CtrlS to execute its pipeline effectively and support the massive data workloads expected from enterprises in the coming years." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
