GMR Airports has announced its financial results for the quarter ended September, reporting a profit after tax of ₹65.38 crore alongside an increase in total income. The company also announced leadership changes with the appointment of Sanjeev Gupta as Deputy CEO.

GMR Airports reported an 86 per cent rise in profit after tax, reaching ₹65.38 crore for the three months ended September, driven by higher revenues. In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company had recorded a profit after tax of ₹35.06 crore, according to its regulatory filing.

During the quarter under review, the company's total income increased to ₹4,188.49 crore. This compares to a total income of ₹3,754.38 crore reported in the same period a year ago.

Despite the growth in quarterly profit and total income, GMR Airport recorded a total comprehensive loss of ₹80.75 crore for the second quarter of the current financial year. In contrast, the company had reported a total comprehensive income of ₹14.30 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. These figures reflect the total comprehensive income attributable to the owners of the company.

Operationally, airports owned by GMR handled 28 million passengers during the September quarter. The company holds ownership stakes in multiple facilities, including the major airports in Delhi and Hyderabad.

Alongside its financial disclosures, the company announced leadership updates. Sanjeev Gupta has been appointed as an Additional Director and designated as the Deputy CEO, effective from October 29.

"The financial performance of infrastructure majors like GMR Airports reflects the steady growth in passenger traffic and revenue generation within the transport sector. While a rise in profit after tax and total income highlights strong core business activity, the recorded comprehensive loss underscores the importance of managing broader financial metrics and long-term liabilities. Additionally, strengthening leadership teams through key appointments like a Deputy CEO will be crucial for steering large-scale operations and passenger growth effectively." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
