BENGALURU — Gopalan Metals (India) Pvt. Ltd., a copper manufacturing company backed by the Gopalan Group, has formally entered the building wires market with the launch of its new brand, Gopalan Wires and Cables. The newly introduced product line caters to residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
The company's initial product range comprises Flame Retardant (FR) and Flame Retardant Low Smoke and Halogen (FRLS-H) PVC house wires. These products are manufactured at Gopalan Metals' dedicated facility located in Hoskote, Karnataka. The plant currently maintains a monthly production capacity of approximately 6,000 kilometres of building wires.
Regarding distribution, the company is supplying its manufactured goods to a diverse customer base, including electrical dealers, distributors, contractors, builders, infrastructure projects, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and end users across both retail and institutional markets.
The market entry aligns with a period of rising demand for electrical products across the country. This demand growth is primarily driven by rapid urbanisation, expansion within the real estate sector, and ongoing large-scale infrastructure development in India. Alongside this product expansion, Gopalan Enterprises has set a financial target to achieve ₹270 crore in revenue by fiscal year 2025 (FY25) through its copper manufacturing unit.
Speaking on the launch, Pramod C, Director of Gopalan Metals India Pvt. Ltd., stated that electrical wiring serves as a fundamental component of every building, directly impacting the safety and reliability of electrical systems. He noted that the objective behind Gopalan Wires and Cables is to leverage the company's existing experience in copper manufacturing to offer building-wire products that meet established quality and safety standards.
"The expansion of established real estate and business groups into specialized manufacturing sectors like building wires is a strategic move to capture rising domestic demand. By leveraging their existing capabilities in copper manufacturing and targeting a clear revenue milestone of ₹270 crore by FY25, companies can effectively build integrated supply chains. As urbanisation and infrastructure projects continue to grow across India, maintaining consistent quality standards and efficient distribution channels will be critical for long-term success in this competitive market segment." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
