Union Ministers met with Singaporean counterparts at the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable to deepen economic cooperation across advanced manufacturing, fintech, and digitalisation. The discussions follow a period of strong bilateral growth, with Singapore ranking as India's largest source of foreign direct investment in FY2025-26 at USD 19.8 billion.

Senior Indian Union Ministers have engaged with Singaporean counterparts to discuss deeper economic cooperation across advanced manufacturing, fintech, digitalisation, healthcare, and sustainability. The talks took place during the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore.

The Indian delegation included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada. They met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and other senior dignitaries.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on social media that the discussions focused on expanding the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) between the two nations. The meetings, which also include the fourth India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), are aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and economic ties.

The fourth ISMR reviewed progress made since the third roundtable, which was held in New Delhi in August 2025. According to a joint statement by Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, the meeting also explored new areas to accelerate the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Roadmap.

Economic ties between the two countries have expanded steadily. Data from the Commerce Ministry indicates that Singapore was India’s largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in FY2025-26, recording USD 19.8 billion in inflows. Cumulative FDI from Singapore reached USD 194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026.

Bilateral trade has also seen significant growth over the years, rising from USD 6.7 billion in FY2004-05 to USD 36.1 billion in FY2025-26, according to Commerce Ministry figures. The concurrent business roundtable is designed to foster direct engagement between enterprises from both countries alongside government-level cooperation.

"The continued growth in bilateral trade and Singapore's position as India's top source of FDI highlight the strength of the economic corridor between the two nations. For businesses, particularly in sectors like fintech, advanced manufacturing, and digitalisation, this ongoing governmental alignment creates a stable foundation for cross-border investment and long-term expansion." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
