Mahajan Imaging & Labs and Neuberg Diagnostics have entered into a joint venture to expand pathology, genomics, and wellness services across seven states in North India. The partnership includes plans to establish around 20 radiology centres and hundreds of collection centres over the next three to five years.

Mahajan Imaging & Labs and Neuberg Diagnostics have announced a joint venture to scale up pathology, genomics, and wellness services across North India. Under the partnership, Mahajan Imaging & Labs will serve as Neuberg's exclusive partner across seven states in the region and will assume control of Neuberg's existing laboratories located in Noida, Lucknow, and Jammu.

As part of the operational integration, Kabir Mahajan has been appointed as the CEO of the joint venture. The expansion strategy will employ a hub-and-spoke model, supported by hundreds of collection centres distributed across the seven states. Additionally, the partners plan to establish two centres of excellence for pathology in the Delhi-NCR region to handle specialised and super-speciality testing.

Dr GSK Velu, founder, chairman, and managing director of Neuberg Diagnostics, noted that the collaboration merges Neuberg's capabilities in pathology with Mahajan Imaging & Labs' expertise in imaging. The companies intend to introduce advanced diagnostics such as genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, digital pathology, and molecular diagnostics to the North Indian market. Dr Velu confirmed the establishment of specific super-speciality pathology centres in Delhi and Gurgaon.

Addressing pricing and scaling, Dr Harsh Mahajan, founder and chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, stated that the joint venture aims to keep prices aligned with market standards while broadening access to specialised diagnostics. He indicated that increased testing volumes could eventually help reduce overall rates, particularly for genomics testing.

In addition to organic growth, the joint venture will evaluate acquisition opportunities to further its expansion. Dr Mahajan emphasized that potential partnerships would focus on working with clinical leaders in different geographies to maintain patient-centric practices.

The partners anticipate that advanced diagnostics, including genomics and molecular pathology, will increase as a share of their North India business. While these services currently represent less than 10 per cent of their regional business, the companies project this figure to grow to more than 30 per cent over the next three years.

The partnership arrives amid ongoing consolidation within India's organised diagnostics sector, alongside rising demand for preventive, specialised, and precision diagnostics. Industry data from ICRA projects that organised diagnostic players could achieve 12-14 per cent revenue growth in FY27, supported by wellness testing, specialised services, and expansion into non-metro markets. The joint venture will integrate pathology, imaging, nuclear medicine, and genomics while reinforcing underlying laboratory infrastructure, sample collection, digital systems, and logistics.

"Strategic joint ventures in the healthcare sector often succeed by combining complementary operational strengths, as seen in this partnership between Mahajan Imaging and Neuberg Diagnostics. By integrating regional infrastructure, specialized testing capabilities, and a hub-and-spoke collection model, the entities are well-positioned to capture growing market demand for advanced diagnostics and preventive healthcare in North India. Consolidating existing facilities while targeting scalable growth in specialized segments like genomics reflects a pragmatic approach to navigating a consolidating diagnostics industry." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
