Travel technology firm MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Quick Ride to enter the ride-pooling segment. The newly formed entity, Co Ride Mobility Private Ltd, will house the ride-pooling business, while the founders continue to lead operations.

Travel technology company MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform Quick Ride, marking the company's entry into the ride-pooling sector.

The acquisition covers the Quick Ride brand and its core ride-pooling business. As part of an internal restructuring, these operations have been transferred to a newly formed entity named Co Ride Mobility Private Ltd, in which MakeMyTrip holds a majority stake. Meanwhile, Quick Ride’s erstwhile electric vehicle taxi business remains with the predecessor entity, iDisha Info Labs Private Limited. Quick Ride's original promoters will continue to lead the business moving forward.

Founded in 2015, Quick Ride is a Series B-funded company. According to market intelligence firm Tracxn, the platform reported a revenue of ₹54.2 crore and a profit of ₹4.5 crore in FY25, reflecting a one per cent year-on-year growth in revenue.

Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of MakeMyTrip, stated that the company plans to leverage its experience in building redBus, both in India and overseas, to scale the newly acquired operations. Magow noted that the acquisition aligns with the company's broader expansion strategy of pursuing selective strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisitions to broaden its existing offerings. He added that ride-pooling establishes a presence for the company in high-frequency daily commutes within cities as well as intercity travel.

This transaction adds to MakeMyTrip’s growing portfolio of acquisitions and investments across the travel and mobility segments. Previous acquisitions include car rental provider Savaari, corporate travel and expense management platform Happay, and regional group holiday package provider Flamingo Transworld, alongside a minority investment in visa-processing platform Atlys.

The acquisition follows solid financial performance reported by MakeMyTrip. In Q2 FY27, the company registered gross bookings of $2.72 billion, marking a 20.9 per cent year-on-year growth in constant currency. Adjusted margins also expanded across multiple business segments, with hotels and packages growing by 20.2 per cent and bus ticketing recording a 29 per cent increase.

"The acquisition of Quick Ride by MakeMyTrip highlights a strategic move into high-frequency, everyday travel use cases like daily commuting and intercity pooling. By housing the ride-pooling operations in a dedicated entity while retaining the original promoters, MakeMyTrip is securing core operational expertise. This integration into their existing ground transport portfolio, alongside previous investments like redBus and Savaari, strengthens their ecosystem play in the broader Indian mobility and travel sector." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
